Eve

1
As always, the same
conclusion: to trust
without question, and yet
a snake lifts its head like a finger
to point to a tree
in the middle of paradise.

2
One bite
and I have tasted
hunger. I saw, as if
for the first time,
your hardened chest,
that fruit
resplendent
against an inner thigh.
And a sudden heat
pushed in, that feeling
between an ache and
the sharpest pleasure.

3

with a curious expression.
I remember: it is
innocence. I raise
the fruit to your lips,
press it like a key
into a prisoner's hand.
